Schindler's List ~ Luka Sulic

Been raving on about how spectacular 2CELLOS are. Here's Luka playing the Schindler's List theme. I have to say, despite being a violinist, it sounds so much better on cello - it's deeper and richer without losing that haunting quality. 

On a completely different note, for some reason he kind of reminds me of Jensen Ackles aka Dean from Supernatural.

Trying to learn this on the piano, it's such a beautiful song. 

Also love the little annotations on his sheet music, really helps guide you through the music, and also the anecdotes. Makes the process of learning a new song so much more approachable.

Warlow on my mind

Dr Zhivago the musical was wonderful. What a fabulous cast; such brilliant acting, lovely voices and proudly Australian! Lucy Simon has blessed us with a wonderful score to go with such a tragically beautiful and romantic story. It was 2.5 hrs of musical bliss. Lucy Simon has a real way with harmonies, which was really apparent in her score for The Secret Garden too.

It's not exactly your usual happy-go-lucky musical with comic relief; there are a few lighter moments but it is quite a dark story, given the backdrop of the Russian revolution. But it's one of those stories that will really stay with you always; it is very poetic and says so much about the passion and drive of living, of survival.

And noone better than Mr Anthony Warlow to bring this musical to life, with his own experiences from battling and overcoming cancer, but moreover what a voice!

So, Dr. Zhivago the Musical, a must see if you haven't already done so! Currently playing at Her Majesty's Theatre, Melbourne until June 26th.

I've only heard the second track. The rest of the song titles sound really interesting....たとえば、「うんこ」　とか、「 トイレの匂いも変わったね」　とか、 「ここにきてモーツァルト」など...おもしろいな...（笑）

「あゆるものの真ん中で」～森山直太朗

Brilliant music and vocals from Naotaro as always.

The lyrics and melodies are always very pretty and creative.

However, not to say it is lacking in strength, but, well, I guess the vocals aren't so..how do I put it? sheesh I'm rambling. I guess, what I'm trying to say is that he isn't exactly belting out power ballads. Most of the tunes are either mellow or they're fun songs.

Maybe after 涙 the bars of my expectations have risen yet again. Most of the stuff out there are now only mediocre in comparison. It's wonderful and yet I've become a music snob. Other than selected musicals, Anthony Warlow and Nao-chan, there is little else I can listen to without being overly cynical and critical about. Well, recently I've gotten back into Classical.

So, back to Nao-I love all the songs but one fave is [人のことなんて]

いいじゃないか

 "Wouldn't it be easier if we didn't care about people...?""

I love the piano accompaniment. I love the simplicity of the message. I love his voice.
